The African Federation of Sign Language Interpreters (AFSLI), in collaboration with the Rwanda National Union of Sign Language Interpreters (RNUSLI), is hosting its 2026 conference in Kigali, Rwanda, to advance inclusion, empowerment, and access for Deaf and hard-of-hearing communities across Africa.
With an estimated 15% of Africa's population being Deaf or hard of hearing, interpreters are vital in bridging communication gaps in education, healthcare, employment, and civic engagement. The conference, scheduled for March 23–25, 2026, will unite key stakeholders to enhance interpreting services across the continent.
