Why Sign Language Interpretation Matters
Sign language interpreters are vital to equitable access in society, connecting Deaf individuals to critical information, services, and opportunities in settings like classrooms, courtrooms, hospitals, and conferences.
In many African countries, interpreters also play a key role in advocacy, cultural preservation, and inclusive development. The AFSLI 2026 Conference in Kigali brings visibility to these roles and equips interpreters and stakeholders with tools to drive systemic change for a more inclusive future.
